Health and Safety Authority Host Conflict Resolution Seminars

The Health and Safety Authority has today (Thursday 15th November) announced it will host three seminars on ‘Conflict Resolution in the Workplace’ in order to assist in preventing a variety of workplace tensions, conflicts and reduce resultant stress.  These morning seminars are aimed at employees, supervisors, managers and owner managers, specifically the micro and SME sector who may lack in-house expertise.  The seminars will run in Dublin (November 26th), Cork (November 29th), and Galway (December 12th).

Patricia Murray Occupational Health Inspector and Organisational Psychologist at the Health and Safety Authority said “The aim of the seminars is to try to introduce the core skills which can reduce and often prevent tensions mounting with the objective or reaching peaceful conciliation.”  She also stated “Conflict in the workplace not only has health implications for those involved but it can also influence performance, attendance, commitment, and in many cases, profit.  It is in the interest of every organisation to ensure they understand how to deal with conflict in an effective way.”

Expert speakers will cover topics such as; Taking Control of Tensions, Stress Reduction Strategies, An Introduction to Mediation and Templates for Resolution of Emotion-Laden Disputes.  For booking information please email patricia_murray@hsa.ie or logon to www.hsa.ie, places are limited and early booking is advised.
