Under each industry sector you will find information relating to the activities of the Health and Safety Authority. Use the navigation bar to select the industry sector of interest to you.

High Risk Sectors
A number of sectors, because of the nature of the work, carry a higher risk of accident, injury or death for their workers. These are, typically, sectors that involve working at height, working around transport equipment and machinery or sectors that require high levels of manual labour. In these sectors, greater vigilance is required to minimise the risks.
The Authority has placed a priority on improving the management of health and safety in particularly high risk sectors – namely agriculture and forestry, construction and mines/quarries. We are committed to developing new ways to reach these sectors as well as encouraging groups such as chief executives and company directors to make safety and health a normal component of business performance and one that is synonymous with the success and competitiveness of an enterprise.
