Health and Safety Management System for Schools

The Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 requires every employer, including schools, to develop and implement an effective occupational health and safety management system.  The Health and Safety Authority is currently working with the Department of Education and Science, to develop a safety and health management system for post-primary schools.

A comprehensive set of guidelines will be available for second level schools in 2010. This system will be a practical aid to schools in their preparation and operation of risk assessments, safety statements and safety management procedures.

If your school is currently developing it's safety and health system or if you are amending a safety statement,

please check our publications section for relevant information.
