HSA and Other Organisations
For many years the H.S.A, ESB Networks and others have worked together on workplace safety issues, particularly on workplace safety as affected by E.S.B supply. The two organisations, with assistance from other concerned bodies, have coordinated their approach in preparing a Code of Practice for Overhead Lines in Construction, Prevention of danger from Underground Services and are currently preparing guidance on safety of overhead lines in agriculture. There are numerous examples of coordinated work between the H.S.A. and the E.S.B.
The H.S.A. and E.S.B. Networks have had a series of meetings since 2005 to enhance awareness of the risks posed by overhead power lines to construction and agricultural contractors. This has lead to a joint publicity drive to reduce the instances of hits by all machinery on overhead power lines thus reducing the risk of death and injury arising from this source.
