Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council amending Regulation (EC) No 648/2004 as regards the use of phosphates and other phosphorous compounds in household laundry detergents (21/02/2011).
The Department of Enterprise, Trade & Employment are currently holding a public consultation and inviting views on the Commission's proposal especially from SME’s involved in the manufacture and supply of laundry detergents. Closing date for submissions is the 10th March, 2011 (click here).

Commission proposal to control the use of phosphates & phosphorous compounds detergent (04/11/2010).
The European Commission has adopted the Commission proposal amending Regulation (EC) No 648/2004 as regards the use of phosphates and other phosphorous compounds in household laundry detergent.
The proposal has been transmitted to the European Parliament and to the Council for adoption following the new ordinary legislative procedure (ex co-decision).
