This eTool outlines some of the principle occupational hazards and risks in selected hospital departments. It is relevant to all who work in the hospital setting and may be particularly relevant to those who are involved in preparing and reviewing risk assessments.
The eTool is a non exhaustive list and outlines:
- Some of the principle occupational hazards and risks within selected hospital departments.
- Possible underlying causes of these hazards and risks.
- Related Health and Safety Authority documents which provide information on best practice with regard to these particular hazards.
Underlying causes that can be common to all workplace hazards, for example, human error or violations which may arise for a number of reasons such as lack of training, stress, poorly designed systems of work and so on are not always included here. However, they should be duly taken account of when identifying hazards and assessing risks.
