REACH 2018: Find your co-registrants

Following the first phase 'Know your portfolio', launched in June this year, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) is now launching the second phase of its REACH 2018 campaign. This campaign is aimed at registrants for the 2018 registration deadline, in particular small to medium enterprises.

The REACH Regulation obligates registrants of the same substance to work together to submit certain information jointly. This second phase encourages registrants to find their co-registrants and begin preparing to work together. Companies need to find each other, agree that they are registering the same substance and get organised in a substance information exchange forum (SIEF). Registrants can check the ECHA dissemination website to determine if their substance has already been registered, in which case they can join the existing joint registration. If the substance has not yet been registered, the pre-registrants will first need to contact each other through REACH-IT to establish that they intend to register the same substance and begin forming their SIEF. Step-by-step instructions on how to find the other SIEF members are now available on ECHA’s website.

A webinar on the second phase of the REACH 2018 Roadmap will take place on Wednesday 18 November at 9:00am Irish time (11:00am Helsinki time). It will offer a basic understanding of how to retrieve pre-registrations in REACH-IT and how to check if a substance has already been registered. It will guide companies on how to find the lead registrant or co-registrants. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions from ECHA’s experts.

Further information on the launch of Phase 2 may be found in ECHA's press release.
