Education
There are 300,000 young people aged 15-24 in the Irish workforce today. The Health and Safety Authority believes that education is the key to fostering a culture of safety and health which will heighten awareness and keep young people safe and healthy in the home, school, community and workplace.
There are five strands to the Health and Safety Authority’s education strategy:
- Managing safety and health in schools – creating a safe and healthy teaching and learning environment
- Mainstreaming safety and health at all levels of education
- Providing teacher supports and classroom resources
- Teacher training
- Joint initiatives and programmes
The Health and Safety Authority is exploring many opportunities whereby the principles of safety and health can be disseminated through the formal education system. If your organisation is involved in providing curriculum-linked resources to schools and you are interested in incorporating safety and health messages, please contact the Education Strategy Manager: Joanne Harmon
