Product Safety Alert – Snorkel S3010E Mobile Elevating Work Platform

Snorkel S3010E Mobile Elevating Work Platform

It has come to the attention of the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) that a number of Snorkel S3010E Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs), which were available on the market in Ireland from 2019 until 10 September 2024, may not have a correctly operational load sensing system as specified in the relevant EN280 harmonised standard associated with EU Directive 2006/42/EC on machinery.
Hazard:
In the event of overload of the working platform, suitable devices to warn the operator and prevent dangerous movements may not operate.
Corrective Action:
The HSA advises owners / operators of the Snorkel S3010E Mobile Elevating Work Platforms, which were purchased in Ireland during the period 01 January 2019 to 10 September 2024, to contact the manufacturer for further information in advance of continued use of these machines to ensure any necessary corrective measures are completed.

It is estimated that the number of affected MEWPs is in the order of 122 machines.
Please note, platforms modified to include a loading sensing system as set out in the applicable clause of the EN 280 standard will need to be tested to ensure the correct functionality of the system.
