The European Commission Safety Gate system allows for information on measures taken against non-food dangerous products that present issues around safety, health and non-compliance. This system does not include alerts on food, pharmaceutical products and medical devices. The exchange of information between EU/EEA countries and the European Commission through the alert system includes information on the products concerned, the risks linked to them and the measures taken against these products. Every day, national authorities send alerts to the Safety Gate. Responsibility for the information transmitted lies with the national authority. Apart from providing weekly listings of alerts validated the previous week, the website is continuously updated with newly validated alerts.
Each alert contains information on the kind of product detected as dangerous, the notifying Member State, a description of the risk and the measures taken by the economic operator or ordered by the authority. All countries have to follow up this information and if they find the same product on their own markets and have taken further measures, they have to share this information on Safety Gate.
The European Commission does not take any responsibility for the accuracy of the information provided. Modifications to an alert can only be submitted by the notifying country.
