Irish and Non-Irish National Construction Workers – Research on Differences in Approach to Health and Safety at Work

Irish and Non-Irish National Construction Workers

The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) commissioned the Institute for Employment Studies (IES) to conduct research which examined the issues affecting the safety of non-Irish national construction workers. Research has shown that migrant workers are a high risk group as they are more likely to work in occupations/sectors where there are existing health and safety concerns. This research examined the root cause(s) of the high proportion of accidents and fatalities involving non-Irish national workers in the Irish construction sector. The results will be used to inform future campaigns, training and other initiatives.
