Code of Practice: Safe Use of Industrial Trucks Webinar for Trainers
The Health and Safety Authority has published a new Code of Practice entitled Code of Practice: Safe Use of Industrial Trucks. This Code of Practice came into operation on 24 September 2025. From that date, it replaces the 2001 Code of Practice Rider-operated lift trucks: operator training.
The new Code of Practice provides practical guidance on complying with the provisions of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 with regards to the use of industrial trucks in workplaces. It provides a framework for managing the risks associated with industrial trucks. It sets out the basic roles and responsibilities of those who have duties for ensuring the safe operation of industrial trucks and the training of industrial truck operators.
The aim of this webinar is to inform training providers of the new requirements on operator training in this Code of Practice, which are different to those in the 2001 Code of Practice. It will be delivered by senior Inspectors from the Transport and Storage Unit of the HSA.
