Health & Safety in Construction

Safe Pass is a one-day health and safety awareness programme. The programme aims to improve your knowledge and awareness of health and safety standards and practices in the construction industry. During the day, you’ll cover the following learning units:

  2. Legislation and Site Safety

  3. Site Accident Reporting

  4. Introduction to Risk Assessment

  5. Electricity

  6. Excavations and Confined Spaces

  7. Working at Heights

  8. Accident Causation

  9. Site Safety and Construction Equipment

  10. Site Safety and Construction Vehicles

  11. Noise and Vibration

  12. Personal Health and Welfare

Who needs to do Safe Pass awareness training?

Under the Safety Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013  the SOLAS Safe Pass / Safety Awareness Programmes only applies to:

(a) Craft and general construction workers,

(b) Persons undertaking on-site security work, and

(c) Persons or classes of persons as may be prescribed by the Minister.

The Health and Safety Authority in conjunction with the Construction Advisory Committee have produced a summary guide of the categories of persons to whom Safe Pass does and does not apply.
