Guide for Homeowners
This guide tells you what you need to know and do when you are having construction work done in your home. The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) developed this guide in light of new responsibilities for homeowners under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013. The regulations apply to construction work that you pay to get done in your home. They do not apply to DIY (Do it yourself) jobs.

Guide for Contractors and Project Supervisors
This guidance is aimed at contractors who undertake construction work on private domestic dwellings. Under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013, a Client is a person for whom a construction project is carried out. This now includes a person having construction work carried out on their own home.

Annual Report 2012
The Authority delivered on a challenging and very broad work programme in 2012. Our very extensive remit across all economic sectors, spanning over 200 acts, regulations and conventions, means that the Authority had a significant impact on many Irish workplaces, workers and the general public throughout 2012.

Statistics Report 2012
The Health and Safety Authority’s annual Summary of Statistics presents the most frequently sought information and statistics on occupational injury, illness and workplace fatalities in Ireland. Data from different sources is brought together so that readers can review and monitor trends across a range of factors related to workplace injury and illness, including the characteristics of the victim, the incident and the work environment.

REACH Authorisation Information Sheet
Authorisation is a process under REACH designed to manage the risks of hazardous substances. It is a licensing system of sorts, whereby certain substances may not be placed on the market for a use, or used, in the EU unless the company has been authorised to do so.

General Application Amendment Regulations Pressure Systems
The Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) (Amendment) Regulations 2012 (S.I. No. 445 of 2012) amend the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007 (S.I. No. 299 of 2007) by adding a Part 10 and associated Schedule 12 to deal with pressure systems. The failure of pressure equipment can result in fatalities and serious injuries and cause major damage to property. The purpose of the Regulations is to provide a robust regime for the management of pressure systems, including clear requirements for periodic statutory examinations of pressure vessels.

This is the third Strategy prepared by the Authority under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005. It outlines our mandate, mission, vision, strategic outcomes and priorities up to the end of 2015 and will set the overall direction for the Authority’s activities during this time.

Programme of Work 2013
This is the first Programme of Work prepared as part of our new strategy for the period 2013 to 2015. Our vision is a country where worker safety, health and welfare and the safe management of chemicals are central to successful enterprise. This Programme of Work is designed to move us closer to achieving our vision.
