Cooney Furlong Limited was today, Friday 8 May 2026, fined a total of €100,000 by Judge Cormac Quinn at Wexford Circuit Criminal Court, following a fatal work-related incident which occurred at Dranagh, Caim, Enniscorthy in County Wexford on the 15th of March 2021.

Today, Wednesday 29th April 2026, at Naas Circuit Court, Judge Elva Duffy imposed a fine of €95,000 on Carbury Compost Unlimited Company following a fatal work-related incident which occurred at the company’s premises at Drummond, Carbury, Co. Kildare on 25th March 2021.

Workers’ Memorial Day highlights the ongoing need for worker safety to be prioritised
The Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) and the Health and Safety Authority (HSA), along with colleagues from Ibec and the Construction Industry Federation (CIF), are gathering today (Tuesday 28th April) at the Garden of Remembrance in Dublin city centre to mark Workers’ Memorial Day. This national day remembers those who have died, been injured or made seriously ill as a result of work.

The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) will commence a national farm safety inspection campaign on Monday 23rd March focusing on the safe use of tractors, machinery, quad bikes (ATV’s) and other work vehicles on farms.

Today, Friday 20th February 2026, at Trim Circuit Criminal Court, Judge John Martin imposed a fine of €150,000 on Meade Potato Company Unlimited following a serious work-related incident which occurred at the company’s premises on 30th June 2022.
